Firefighters from six different departments battled a massive blaze that tore through multiple businesses in downtown Seymour Wednesday afternoon.
Officials said the fire started in an antique shop and quickly spread to adjacent buildings requiring more than 100 firefighters to control.
“Fire quickly transitioned to a defensive fire attack surround and drown. Where we had to soak it from the outside,” Fire Marshall Timothy Willis, told WFSB News 3.
Officials said at one point they had multiple master streams flowing over 7,000-gpm on the fire.
Two firefighters suffered minor injuries, one from exhaustion and one from a fall.
